The main differences between the 2023 Cherokee and 2024 Grand Cherokee are body size, interior design, and engine options. Beside these differences, each SUV has a similar exteriors and off-road capabilities that make going on the less-taken path fun.
The 2023 Jeep Cherokee has kept true to its iconic look for close to a decade, but it gives off a rugged, bold look that is known with the Jeep Brand. As an SUV crossover, the Cherokee comes with Jeep’s classic seven-slot grille, large wheel arches, 18-inch wheels, LED headlamps, taillamps, daytime running lamps, and fog lamps.
You also get cool features like hands-free power liftgate, tire fill alert, capless fuel fill, and roof rails. If you want a sportier trim, the Trail hawk comes with skid plates, red tow hooks, and 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels to help you conquer any trail.
Like the Cherokee, the 2024 Grand Cherokee comes with the Jeep’s seven-slot grille, LED headlamps, taillamps, daytime running lamps, and fog lamps. However, the Grand Cherokee comes with a plethora of wheel designs to choose from. Depending on the trim, you can get a 17-inch polished aluminum wheel to a 21-inch machined face with high-gloss black painted pockets.
Another big difference is size; furthermore, you can choose between a three row or two row Grand Cherokee depending on your needs. You also get fancier features the higher up you go with the trims. Overall, the Grand Cherokee is the larger version of the Cherokee with more exterior options to choose from.
The 2023 Cherokee’s cabin is comfortable, but some feel it's tighter than what it looks like on the outside. The inside is also functional with features like heated seats and in-dash navigation. The leg space for both the front and back seats is average, but the cargo space, which is about 26 cubic feet, is smaller than the Grand Cherokee and other SUVs.
As for technology, the Cherokee comes with a 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect software that allows for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an optional Wi-Fi hotspot. You get safety features like forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert as standard with your Cherokee.
The Grand Cherokee’s cabin is fancy but functional at the same time. Though the base trims come with the essentials, you can upgrade to higher trims like the Summit or Overland to get great features like quilted leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, heated/cooled seats, four-zone climate control, and plenty of leg space. You also get about 38 cubic feet of cargo space, which is significantly more than the Cherokee.
With the technology, you can get either an 8.4- or 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM radio. However, you can get optional features like in-dash navigation, real-time traffic, live weather updates, 10.0-inch head-up display, and another 10.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger.
The standard sound system includes a six-speaker stereo, but you can get either a nine-speaker Alpine system or 19-speaker McIntosh sound system. With safety, you get automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control as standard safety tech with your Grand Cherokee.
